Church Road Reconstruction - Jefferson to Grove Ave

The Village of Bensenville is about to undertake a very significant roadway reconstruction project in your area. Church Road will be reconstructed from Jefferson St to Grove Ave. As part of the same project, the Village will also construct an off-street 8-feet wide shared use path to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists. Other infrastructure improvements included in this project are curb and gutter, storm sewers, watermain replacement, new water services from the watermain to the b-box, driveway aprons, parkway restorations, pavement markings, and other miscellaneous items necessary to complete the project. The tentative start date for the project is set for early to mid-May 2017 with a substantial completion of November 15, 2017. Daily work hours are from 7:00AM to 7:00PM, Monday thru Friday. Saturday work hours will be limited from 7 AM – 3 PM. The project is designed to be constructed in multiple stages to keep one-way (southbound) traffic open at all times during construction. Please note, there will be some temporary delays during construction hours due to various contractor activities. If possible, it is highly recommended to avoid the construction area.

Update 08/18/17

The week of Aug 14, the general contractor worked on earth excavation on the east side. This work is completed between Jefferson St and Memorial Rd. The general contractor also worked on removing sidewalk and installing aggregate base course in preparation for the shared use path along the west side of the street from Memorial Rd to Grove Ave.

At this time, we are not planning to pave the shared use path until after the watermain installation is completed and services are transferred to the new watermain because the shared use path will be compromised during water service transfers. The earth excavation work north of Memorial Rd to Grove Ave along the east side will also be put on hold until the watermain installation is completed in that area.

Weather permitting, next week, the general contractor is scheduled to continue bringing the shared use path to the aggregate base course elevation prior to start of school on Aug 23. The underground contractor will begin watermain installation at Grove Ave/Church Rd during the week of Aug 21. At this time we are anticipating a water shutdown on Church Rd early next week. The residents impacted by this shutdown will be given a 24-hr notice. There will be intermediate southbound detours during the daytime while the work is going on. Local residents will have access to their homes however delays should be expected. See attached detour map

AT&T’s sub-contractor Camco has been out onsite working on new fiber installation while AT&T in-house crews worked on removing poles. This work will continue next week.
