During the weeks of December 4th and 11th, Hard Rock Concrete Cutters Inc. will be in town eliminating sidewalk trip hazards. These trip hazards arise when tree roots or frost heave lifts a sidewalk square, causing a small step at the joint with the adjacent square. Hard Rock uses a horizontal sawing technique that “shaves” part of a lifted square so that it is level with the adjoining square. This practice is most efficient for eliminating trip hazards ranging from 1 to 2.5 inches and is supplementary to the sidewalk removal and replacement program. Any questions related to this project should be directed to Department of Public Works at 630-350-3435.
