Senior / Disabled Grass Cutting Program

The Village of Bensenville Senior / Disabled Grass Cutting Program is designed to help those in our community who need assistance to obtain a low cost solution to grass cutting on their properties.

The Village will hire independent contractors to provide discounted rates for common grass cutting services. The Village will also subsidize fifty percent (50%) of the cost. Applicants may select services based on an “a la carte” menu as listed below.

The Public Works Department will administer the program. Grass cutting services will begin on or about the week of April 9, 2018 and continue through October 31, 2018. Visits will occur on a weekly basis. During extreme dry weather, the Village may instruct the contractor to extend the time between visits. This decision will be made by the Village and will be applied to all participants in the program.

The Standard Service Plan ($7.50 per visit) will include basic grass cutting. Grass clippings will be mulched back into the lawn (no bagging). Loose clippings will be blown off hardscapes such as sidewalks, driveways, and patios. The Standard Service Plan will also include a Spring cleanup to collect loose articles (twigs, branches, leaves, etc.) from the lawn and dispose of them accordingly. The plan also includes bagging and removal of clippings and leaves in the month of October.

The applicant may choose to upgrade their service to include edging of hardscape and/or bagging of clippings. Edging of hardscape ($2.50 per visit) will include weed whipping the driveway, sidewalk, and patios (as necessary) each time the contractor comes out to cut the grass. The bagging of clippings ($2.50 per visit) will include bagging of cut grass instead of mulching them back into the lawn. The contractor will also remove the bagged clippings from the premise. The program does have specific eligibility requirements (listed below) that require documentation to prove eligibility.
