Active Email Phishing Scam


The village has received reports of an active email phishing scam.  The email may appear to come from a legitimate official Village account and have a subject line regarding “Business Licenses 2020”, it may also have some or all of the following text in the body of the email:

“Kindly confirm your Company/Business name in Village of Bensenville Business Licenses as of November 22, 2019. (26 pgs.) as APPROVED by the Executive committee for the year 2020.”

The Village of Bensenville is not soliciting information or requesting businesses or residences to access online systems via email communications at this time. If you get an email for personal or financial information, don’t reply. Do not click on any links. Do not download any attached documents. Do not give out personal information over the phone unless you have initiated the phone call and know to whom you are speaking.  If you have questions or concerns regarding an unusual or suspicious email from the Village of Bensenville, please contact the Village directly by phone at 630-766-8200.
