White Pines Watermain Construction Updates

Update 04/16/2021

During the week of April 12, 2021, Crew 1 completed watermain installation along Briar Lane between Red Oak and White Pines Rd. They had some issues with pressure testing this main after the installation. They worked on identifying where the leak could be. They also made a connection to the watermain at Briar and the main that was directionally bored last week. Crew 2 finished installation of watermain on Frontage Rd to White Pines Rd. Weather permitting, during the week of April 19, Crew 1 will work on water service transfers along Forestview and Briar. Crew 2 will be working on water service transfers on Woodland and Fischer Dr. A concrete sub-contractor is scheduled to perform pavement patch on Frontage Rd towards mid next-week. 

Update 04/08/2021

During the week of March 29, 2021, Crew 1 completed watermain installation along Briar Lane between Forestview and White Pines Rd. The crew then begin installation of watermain on Briar Lane starting at Red Oak and working its way south to White Pines Rd. Crew 2 begin installation of watermain along Frontage Rd before hoping over to directionally bore the watermain between Woodland Dr and Briar Lane. A third crew successfully pressure tested the watermain on Forestview and Briar lane up to White Pines Rd. Chlorination results of this main are pending. The full lane closure and detour along Frontage are in place. Weather permitting, during the week of April 12, Crew 1 will finish watermain installation on Briar Lane, They will then move back down to Forestview Dr to finish installation of the storm sewers in that stretch. Crew 2 will continue installation of watermain on Frontage Rd to White Pines Rd. Once completed, they will work on the storm sewer items on Woodland and Fischer Dr.

Update 04/02/2021

During the week of March 29, 2021, Crew 1 completed the installation of the watermain along Forestview Dr. and started the installation along Briar Lane (moving north). Crew 2 completed the installation of the watermain on Fischer Dr and Woodland Dr. Crew 2 also performed exploratory digs and saw-cutting of Frontage Road this week. The full lane closure and detour along Frontage are in place. Weather permitting, during the week of April 5, Crew 1 will continue watermain installation on Briar Lane up to Red Oak. Crew 2 will begin watermain installation along Frontage Road. Both crews also plan to fill, flush, pressure test, and chlorinate segments of the watermain installed to date.

Update 03/26/2021

During the week of March 22, 2021, Crew 1 continued installation of the watermain along Forestview Dr. Crew 2 continued installation of watermain on Fischer Dr as well as on Woodland Dr east of Fischer Dr.  Weather permitting, during week of March 29, Crew 1 will continue watermain installation from Forestview Dr up north to Briar Lane. Crew 2 plans to install watermain from Fischer Dr to Frontage Rd on Woodland Dr. Both crews also plan to fill, flush, pressure test and chlorinate segments of watermain installed to date. 

Frontage Rd between IL-83 and Woodland Dr will be closed to traffic beginning Tuesday March 30, 2021. A permanent detour and signage will be installed on Monday March 29, 2021. Subcontractor crew will be out on Frontage Rd performing saw cuts and exploratory digs during the week of March 29 as well. This is an important step in the process to locate petroleum pipelines as well as high pressure natural gas utilities prior to watermain installation on Frontage Rd. 

Update 03/18/2021

During the week of March 15, 2021, Crew 1 began installation of the watermain at Church and Forestview and continued west along Forestview Dr. Crew 2 began installation of watermain at the south end of Fischer Dr and worked its way north towards Woodland Dr.  Weather permitting, during week of March 22, both crews will continue to install watermain at their respective locations. At this time, water shutdown are not anticipated during the week of March 22.

Update 03/11/2021

During the week of March 8, 2021, the contractor plans to begin layout work and saw cutting work on Woodland and Fischer. They also installed silt fence on Forestview Dr. Weather permitting, during week of march 15, the construction is scheduled to begin with two crews. One crew will work on Woodland and Fischer area while the second crew is currently scheduled to begin work at Church Rd and Forestview Dr. Water shutdowns are anticipated during the week of March 15 and impacted residents will be notified 24-hours in advance of the shutdown.

Update 03/05/2021

A project meeting was held on March 3, 2021. Weather permitting, the contractor plans to begin layout work during the week of March 8, 2021 on Woodland and Fischer. After the layout is complete, the construction is tentatively scheduled to begin week of March 15, 2021 with two crews. One crew will work on Woodland and Fischer area while the second crew is currently scheduled to begin work at Church Rd and Forestview Dr. Water shutdowns are anticipated during the week of March 15 and impacted residents will be notified 24-hours in advance of the shutdown.

Update 11/20/2020

During the week of Nov 16, 2020 Crew 1 left the site. Crew 2 prepared for and begin transfer of water services on Church Rd. Crew 3 prepared parkways along Crest Ave and Red Oak (IL83 to Briar) for topsoil and sod. The subcontractor begin to install the sod on these streets. Crew 3 also patched along Church Rd and install temporary roadway patches at the intersection of Briar and Red Oak. 
Weather permitting, during the week of Nov 23, 2020 Crew 2 will be finishing up the service transfers on Church Rd. Currently, the contractor plans disconnecting an existing watermain on Third Ave/Briar Ln as well as Third Ave just west of Church Rd on Tuesday Nov 24, 2020 with two separate crews. If a second crew isn’t available then only the disconnection at Third/Briar will take place on Nov 24, 2020 and the second disconnect will be after Thanksgiving. These operations will require watermain shutdown and impacted residents will be notified via door hangers 24-hrs in advance. A pre-cautionary boil order will be in effect 24-hrs after the water is back in service. The disconnections will take place under flagging operations. The roads will be open to traffic but will have significant delays.

Update 11/13/2020

During the week of Nov 9, 2020, Crew one finished service transfers along IL-83 as well as made a watermain connection on Red Oak/Briar. Crew 2 prepared for and begin transfer of water services on Church Rd. The paving sub-contractor installed driveway aprons along IL-83. Crew 3 prepared parkways along Crest Ave and Red Oak (IL83 to Briar) for topsoil and sod. 

Weather permitting, during the week of Nov 16, 2020, Crew 1 will be disconnecting an existing watermain on Church Rd as well on Third Ave. These operations will require watermain shutdown and impacted residents will be notified via door hangers 24-hrs in advance. Crew 1 will be leaving the site after the disconnection are completed. Crew 2 will be working alongside the boring contractor to continue transferring water services on Church Rd. Crew 3 will be Church Rd patching the roadway as well as backfill services transfer pits behind Crew 2. The landscaping sub-contractor is scheduled to be onsite during the latter half of the week to install topsoil and sod on Crest Ave and Red Oak. They will also install topsoil and seed/blanker along IL-83/Third Ave and Church Rd. 

Update 11/06/2020

During the week of Nov 2, 2020, one crew worked on stubbing out services along Church Rd. Crew 2 worked on pre-digging pits for the boring sub-contractor along IL-83. They also begin to bore and transfer water services along IL-83. Crew 3 worked on saw-cutting and prepping the pavement for HMA placement on Crest Ave and Red Oak. Paving subcontractor installed HMA binder along Crest Ave and Red Oak (between IL-83 and Briar). Weather permitting, during the week of November 9, 2020, Crew 1 will continue working on services along Church Rd. Crew 2 will be working along with the boring sub-contractor on IL-83 for water service transfers. Crew 3 will be working on adjusting structures to grade along Crest Ave and Red Oak where new HMA binder was placed. The paving sub-contractor will be tentatively re-mobilize mid to late week to install HMA surface on Crest Ave and Red Oak. 
Traffic will be hindered on Crest Ave, Church Rd and IL-83 next week due to ongoing work. At this time, we are not anticipating street closures and/or any watermain shutdowns next week. 

Update 10/30/2020

During the week of Oct 26, 2020, one crew finished service transfers on Crest Ave and begin stubbing out services along Church Rd. Crew 2 worked on services transfers on Red Oak between IL-83 and Briar Lane. Crew 3 worked on saw-cutting and prepping the pavement for HMA placement on both Crest Ave and Red Oak. Weather permitting, during the week of November 2, 2020, Crew 1 will continue stubbing out services along Church Rd. Crew 2 will be working along with the boring sub-contractor on IL-83 for water service transfers. The paving subcontractor is tentatively scheduled for latter half of the week to install HMA binder.  
Traffic will be hindered on Crest Ave, Church Rd and IL-83 next week due to ongoing work. At this time, we are not anticipating street closures and/or any watermain shutdowns next week. 

Update 10/15/2020

During the week of Oct 12, 2020 one crew finished watermain installation along Crest Ave by making a tie-in at Church Rd. They also successfully pressure tested and chlorinated the new watermain on Crest Ave. The second crew installed watermain along Red Oak between IL-83 and Briar. They have successfully pressure tested the new watermain along IL-83 and are awaiting chlorination results. Weather permitting, during the week of October 19, 2020, the crew on Crest Ave will finish some minor storm sewer work before moving onto water service transfers to the new watermain on Crest Ave. The second crew will be working on water service installation up to b-box along IL-83. The water services from the b-box to the back of the homes will be bored by a sub-contractor which will likely begin mid to late next week. 
Traffic will be hindered on Crest Ave and IL-83 next week due to ongoing work. At this time, we are not anticipating street closures and/or any watermain shutdowns next week. 


Update 10/22/2020

During the week of Oct 19, 2020, one crew worked on service transfers on Crest Ave while the second crew worked on stubbing out services to b-boxes along IL-83. They also successfully pressure tested and chlorinated the new watermain on Red Oak St and are awaiting chlorination results.  Weather permitting, during the week of October 26, 2020, the crew on Crest Ave will continue working on water service transfers to the new watermain on Crest Ave. The second crew will be working on water service hook up along IL-83 in conjunction with the boring contractor. 

Traffic will be hindered on Crest Ave and IL-83 next week due to ongoing work. At this time, we are not anticipating street closures and/or any watermain shutdowns next week. 


Update 10/02/2020

During the week of September 28, 2020 one crew began installation of watermain on Crest Ave while the second crew began installation of watermain along IL-83. Weather permitting, during the week of October 5th, both crews will continue with the watermain installation at their respective locations. We are anticipating a watermain shutdown on Tuesday, October 6th at Third Ave/IL-83. This was originally scheduled for September 29th but had to be postponed due to unforeseen underground utility conflicts. The impacted residents will be notified via door hangers. A precautionary boil order will be in place for approximately 24-hrs after the water is turned back on.
