2021 MFT Street Improvement Project

The project will take place on Red Oak St and Crest Ave east of York Rd, Park St between Jefferson St and Pine Ave as well as Rose St, Marion St and Park St south of Jefferson St. The project was advertised in the IDOT local roads bulletin on Feb 11 and Feb 18. The bid opening took place on Feb 25, 2021. A total of nine bidders submitted their bids for the project. The bids are currently being tabulated for accuracy. Based on as-read bid results but apparent low bidder is Builders Paving, LLC at $975,988.00. Staff is planning to present the contract award for Village Board consideration on Mar 9, 2021. At this time, staff is anticipating the tentative project start date is April 5, 2021, weather permitting.

Update 07/01/2021

During the week of June 28 the street signs were installed. This project is now substantially completed. The sod installation on the project will take place in the Autumn timeframe. 

Update 06/25/2021

During the week of June 14 there was no work the site. This project is now substantially completed. Weather permitting and subject to material availability, the signs installation is scheduled for the week of June 28th. The sod installation on the project will take place in the Autumn time frame.

Update 06/18/2021

During the week of June 14, pavement striping was completed throughout the site. This project is now substantially completed. Weather permitting, over the next week or two, small items such as sign installation and punch list will take place. The sod installation on the project will take place in the Autumn time frame.

Update 06/10/2021

During the week of June 7 there was no work on site. This project is now substantially completed. Weather permitting, over the next week or two, small items such as sign installation, pavement marking, and punch list will take place. The sod installation on the project will take place in the autumn time frame.    

Update 06/03/2021

During the week of June 1, HMA surface was placed on the entire jobsite. Weather permitting, over the next week or two, small items such as sign installation, pavement marking, and punch list will take place. This project is now substantially completed. The sod installation on the project will take place in the Autumn time frame.   

Update 05/27/2021

During the week of May 24, landscaping sub-contractor will be onsite to prep and topsoil the disturbed areas. Weather permitting, the week of June 1, HMA surface is scheduled during the latter half of week.   

Update 05/20/2021

During the week of May 17, the contractor performed work on the HMA driveway aprons as well as structure adjustments.  Weather permitting, the week of May 24, landscaping sub-contractor will be onsite to prep and topsoil the disturbed areas. The contractor now plans to install sod next week as well. Tentatively, HMA surface is scheduled during the latter half of next week as well.  

Update 05/14/2021

During the week of May 10, the contractor installed HMA Binder on all streets as well as performed work on the HMA driveway aprons.  Weather permitting, the week of May 17, landscaping sub-contractor will be onsite to prep and topsoil the disturbed areas while underground sub-contractor will be onsite adjusting structures to final grade. Sod installation will take place in the fall timeframe.

Update 05/06/2021

During the week of May 3, the concrete subcontractor finished pouring concrete sidewalks and gaps in the curb and gutter. The general contractor ground down existing pavement within project limits, installed temporary ramps, proof rolled the existing pavement and worked on HMA (Hot-mix Asphalt) driveway aprons.  Weather permitting, during the week of May 10, the general contractor plans to install HMA binder layer within the project limits. Access to the streets and driveways will be temporarily impeded while the paving operations are taking place. Once the binder layer has been installed and compacted, driveway access will be re-established.

Update 04/30/2021

During the week of April 26, the underground contractor install utility structures. Some of the week was lost to weather and ongoing field issue regarding a sidewalk installation. Weather permitting, during the week of May 3, the concrete sub-contractor is scheduled to finish remainder of the concrete items. The general contractor will begin grinding the existing pavement starting May 3rd. Access to the streets and driveways will be temporarily impeded while the grinding operations are taking place. Temporary ramps will be in place for each street and driveways at the end of each working day. The residents have been notified of the upcoming operation. The contractor anticipated week and half of grinding.

Update 04/23/2021

During the week of April 19, the concrete sub-contractor worked on removing and replacing the sidewalk, C&G and driveway aprons. The underground sub-contractor was onsite performing structure adjustments. Weather permitting, during the week of April 26, the concrete sub-contractor is scheduled to finish removing and replacing the sidewalk, C&G and driveway aprons. There is slight possibility the pavement grinding can begin during the latter half of the week but it’s more likely to start the week of May 3. 

Update 04/16/2021

During the week of April 12, the concrete sub-contractor begin removing and replacing the sidewalk, C&G and driveway aprons. The underground sub-contractor was onsite performing structure adjustments. Weather permitting, during the week of April 19, the concrete sub-contractor is scheduled to be onsite continue working on removing and replacing the sidewalk, C&G and driveway aprons. 

Update 04/08/2021

During the week of April 5, the sidewalk, C&G and driveway aprons scheduled to be removed and replaced have been marked in the field. Traffic control signs have also been installed throughout the project limits. Weather permitting, during the week of April 12, the concrete sub-contractor is scheduled to be onsite to begin saw cuts, removal and replacement of sidewalk, C&G and aprons.

Update 04/02/2021

The project will take place on Red Oak St and Crest Ave east of York Rd, Park St between Jefferson St and Pine Ave as well as Rose St, Marion St and Park St south of Jefferson St. The project was awarded to Builders Paving LLC on Mar 9, 2021. During the week of March 29, the contractor performed pre-construction videotaping of the site. At this time, the contractor is still finalizing contracts with its subcontractors and hopes to mobilize and possibly start concrete work the week of April 5th, weather permitting.
