Citizens Transparency Center

The Illinois Policy Institute has created a Ten-Point Transparency Checklist to hold government and elected officials accountable to the citizens and taxpayers, providing a “best practices” framework intended to improve government transparency throughout the State of Illinois.

The Village of Bensenville received a 98% score on their transparency audit conducted by the Illinois Policy Institute. This makes Bensenville the fifth highest ranked government entity out of the more than 300 audits conducted in Illinois.

It is the Village of Bensenville's objective to go above and beyond IPI’s requirements, using the Transparency Checklist as a foundation for open government.

The Bensenville Transparency Checklist is as follows:

  1. Elected & Administrative Officials
  2. Meeting Information
  3. Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)
  4. Budget
  5. Financial Audit
  6. Expenditures
  7. Salary & Benefits
  8. Contracts, Agreements & Collective Bargaining
  9. Lobbying
  10. Taxes & Fees
  11. IMRF “Employer Cost & Participant Information”
