National Take-Back Day is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30. The national prescription drug take-back day aims to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also informing the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
The DuPage County Health Department encourages residents to drop off their unused or expired medications to sites participating in take-back day, which include:
• Bensenville Police Department, 345 Green St.
• Glen Ellyn Police Department, 535 Duane St.
• Lombard Police Department, 235 E. Wilson Ave.
• Naperville Police Department, 1350 Aurora Ave.
• Roselle Police Department, 31 S. Prospect St.
• Westmont Police Department, 500 N. Cass Ave.
• Woodridge Police Department, 1 Plaza Drive
• Wood Dale Police Department, 404 N. Wooddale Road
The DuPage County Health Department’s RxBOX program, which has been existence since 2009, currently includes 12 sites throughout DuPage County. All of the RxBox sites are open all year and residents may drop off medications at any site.
RxBOX has collected more than 25 tons of unwanted medications dropped off by county residents at secure locations throughout DuPage County, thus reducing the possibility these medications might fall into the hands of young people.
