This is a severe weather alert from the Village of Bensenville. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for our area, Friday January 3, from 4PM to 9AM on Saturday January 4 due to considerable blowing and drifting snow and wind gusts of up to 25 miles per hour.
Beginning Sunday night, January 5 through Wednesday morning, January 8 dangerously low temperatures are expected as low as 20 degrees below zero with wind chills greater than 45 degrees below zero. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors in heated areas to avoid these record low temperatures. We do not have any information on possible school closings at this time.
Prepare your homes for the extreme conditions and avoid going outside. Please check on your neighbors that are seniors and those with disabilities. Dial 9-1-1 in case of emergency. As a reminder, there are several warming centers in Bensenville located at Village Hall, the Bensenville Library, The Deer Grove Leisure Center, and The Edge II Ice Arena during regular business hours. To report a power outage call ComEd at 1-800-334-7661 and find a heated place for shelter. Due to the extreme temperatures the Senior Luncheon for January has been cancelled. The next scheduled Senior Lunch will be on Feb. 4. Thank you for your attention.
