Bensenville, IL – On June 19th, 2014 Governor Pat Quinn held a press conference at the Village of Bensenville’s Public Works facility for a New Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project.(See photo below)

Over the next two years, Williams Brothers Construction, Inc. will be converting the nearly 70 year old plant to a state of the art facility. The project will cost approximately $30 million to complete. The project is focusing on simplifying operations and providing processes intended to improve water quality on the receiving streams/creeks.

“I would like to thank Governor Quinn and the State of Illinois for helping to fund this necessary infrastructure project, which is being completed without having to raise taxes.” stated Village President Frank Soto “Besides providing a direct benefit to our residents and business this project will also help create jobs and put people back to work.”

The project will be financed through the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) Water Quality Revolving Loan Program. The IEPA has also extended a grant of nearly $765,000 as principal forgiveness on the loan.

“This critical project was awarded almost $1.3 million in grant funding and special financing from the State of Illinois” said Village Manager Michael Cassady “Finding creative funding sources helps the Village accomplish more with less impact to our residents and businesses.”

In addition to the IEPA grant, the Village was successful in obtaining nearly $500,000 in energy efficiency grants through the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and Illinois Clean Energy (ICE) Program.
